Huang Xiao Cha (黄小茶), meaning “small-leaf yellow tea,” is a category of traditional Chinese yellow tea known for its gentle flavor and unique processing method. It is produced in the provinces of Anhui and Hunan amongst others. 

Huang Xiao Cha is appreciated for its soft, rounded character and subtle sweetness, offering a calmer, less sharp alternative to green tea.

 

🌱 What makes it special?

  • Yellow tea category: One of China’s rarest tea types
  • “闷黄 Men Huang” process: After initial heating, the leaves are lightly wrapped and allowed to slowly oxidize, creating the signature yellow character
  • Small-leaf grade: Uses relatively smaller, more mature leaves compared to bud-heavy yellow teas
