White丨Aged Silver Needle

Aged Silver Needle is a premium Chinese white tea made from the unopened buds of the tea plant. Originally known as Silver Needle (白毫银针, Bai Hao Yin Zhen), it comes mainly from Fujian province. When stored properly over several years, it becomes “aged,” developing a deeper flavour and more complexity.
 
🌱 What makes it special?
Bud-only tea: Made entirely from young, downy buds covered in fine white hairs - the “silver needles”.
Natural processing: Minimally processed - just withered and dried - preserving the tea's delicate compounds.
Ageing potential: Unlike most teas, high-quality white tea can improve with age.

Fresh: Light, floral, and subtly sweet
Aged: Richer, smoother, with notes of honey, dried fruit, and sometimes herbal or woody tones
🌱 Why does ageing matter?
Over time, the tea’s character changes. The ageing process:
Reduces grassy notes
Enhances sweetness and body
Produces a warmer, more mellow infusion
🌱 How is it prepared?
Unlike fresh Silver Needle, which is typically brewed gently with lower-temperature water to highlight its nuanced flavors, Aged Silver Needle can be brewed at a higher temperature, and can be steeped multiple times.
